Trooper Receives Minor Injuries Following DUI Crash In Pinellas Park
A driver is facing multiple DUI charges after crashing into a parked Florida Highway Patrol Saturday night.
PINELLAS PARK, FL — A driver is facing multiple DUI charges after crashing into a parked Florida Highway Patrol Saturday night.
According to the highway patrol, at 11:50 p.m., a trooper was investigating an accident on U.S. 19 south of Hammock Pine Boulevard. The trooper's marked patrol car had its emergency lights activated and was parked in the inside northbound lane when a 2021 Toyota Highlander struck it, propelling the trooper's Dodge Charger into the trooper who was standing in front of it.
The trooper was thrown to the ground by the impact and suffered minor injuries.

The Toyota rotated and came to rest across the northbound lanes.
The driver, Tamico Luwyll Gilbert, suffered minor injuries as well. Following his release from the hospital, he was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, DUI with injuries and DUI with property damage.
