Underwater Easter Egg Hunt Makes a Splash

Saturday's Underwater Easter Egg Hunt kicked off the holiday weekend just right.

2012 marked the St. Pete Beach pool's fifth year of hosting the Underwater Egg Hunt. Hundreds of kids participated while parents watched and cheered. A slew of lifeguards on duty ensured the safety of the event.

Each year, about 300 kids take part in the non-traditional Easter egg hunt. Lines of families, with hopes of making it into the pool first, formed early Saturday morning. The hunt is broken down into three groups. Each group has around 100 kids and a different colored bracelet.

Once kids scrounged up all the eggs in the pool, they went outside the gated area so that the next group of egg wranglers could dive in.
