Video: Jet Pack at St. Pete Beach

A St. Pete Beach resort is offering guests the chance to strap on a water-powered jet pack or ride an 'electric' surf board.

Resort hotels typically update guest rooms or open new restaurants to bring in the guests.

Now the TradeWinds Island Grand Resorts on St. Pete Beach has come up with an idea that is head and shoulders above the competition: Water-powered jet packs that let guests soar above the ocean.

The hotel is introducing the new marine toy this month. Guests get the chance to strap on the water-powered JetLevs and soar up to 30 feet above the water like Johnny Quest.

It's not cheap to fly, though. Renting the jet pack is $250 for hotel guests and $285 for non-guests.

TradeWinds also is offering electric surfboards called Wave Jets, which guests can rent by the hour.
