Woman Accused Of Drunk Driving Following Fatal Pedestrian Crash

Pinellas Park police have arrested a 23-year-old St. Petersburg woman accused of killing a pedestrian with her car while driving drunk.

PINELLAS PARK, FL — Pinellas Park police have arrested a 23-year-old St. Petersburg woman accused of striking and killing a pedestrian with her car while driving drunk.

At 12:25 a.m. Friday, police were called to an accident scene in the 6900 block of 66th Street North near 70th Avenue. Jesus Ramon Gutierrez- Hipolito, 33, of St. Petersburg.was crossing the road outside the crosswalk. Police said he was struck by a 2016 Nissan Sentra traveling north in the middle lane, driven by Carly Christopher.

Gutierrez- Hipolito was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries and later died.

Christopher sustained no injuries. Police observed signs of impairment and gave her a breath test that showed a blood-alcohol level of .153 and .156 percent. A person is considered legally drunk in Florida with a blood-alcohol level of .08 percent.

Christopher was charged with driving under the influence.
