• New duty on Mexican strawberries could raise prices for shoppers (baynews9.com) — A new U.S. duty on Mexican strawberries starting in November could raise prices at the store but may give struggling Plant City growers some relief. A longtime local farmer says the number of farms in Plant City has dropped from about 250 to 50 as cheaper Mexican berries undercut Florida producers. Economists warn shoppers might see modest price hikes while the trade case continues into 2027.
