PLANT CITY, FL — A three-vehicle pileup Sunday night killed five people, including a 1-year-old baby and a 12-year-old girl.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 9:22 p.m. Sunday, a 2015 Ford Explorer driven by a 20-year-old Zephyrhills woman and carrying six passengers, including a 1-year-old, 5-year-old and 12-year-old child, was headed north on State Road 39 north of Bruton Road when it crossed the centerline and collided nearly head on with a Nissan Frontier pickup truck heading south, driven by a 52-year-old Valrico man.

Troopers said the pickup truck spun and came to rest in the southbound lane of SR 39. The crash knocked out its lights and the 60-year-old Plant City driver of a tractor-truck heading south on SR 39 failed to see it and crashed into the passenger side of the pickup.
