Lakeland Man Dies In Single-Car Accident On Old Hopewell Road

PLANT CITY, FL – A Lakeland man is dead following a single-car accident on Old Hopewell Road and State Road 60.

On Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 0:50 p.m., Gabriel Wyatt, 21, of Lakeland was driving his 2007 Audi north on Old Hopewell Road approaching S.R. 60.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Wyatt failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, traveling onto the east shoulder of the road and striking a tree. The car came to rest of its driver's side.

Wyatt was pronounced deceased at the scene. His passenger, Morgan Williams, 20, of Piedmont, South Carolina, was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital where she remains in critical condition.
