Plant City Man Claims $1 Million In Lottery Office Pool

Thanks to an office pool, a 49-year-old Plant City man is $1 million richer.

PLANT CITY, FL -- Thanks to an office pool, a 49-year-old Plant City man is $1 million richer.

Christopher Matches claimed a $1 million MEGA MILLIONS® prize from on Friday, Sept. 21. The winning Quick Pick ticket matched all five of the white ball numbers, but did not match the Mega Ball.

Matches bought the ticket as part of an office pool with 26 of his co-workers.

"We've been playing the big jackpots on and off for over 20 years," he said.

Matches purchased the ticket at Speedway, 1950 Jefferson St. in Brooksville. The retailer will receive a $1,000 bonus commission for selling the $1 million MEGA MILLIONS ticket.

Total ticket sales for this series of MEGA MILLIONS rollovers generated more than $12.2 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.

Since joining MEGA MILLIONS in 2013, the game has generated more than $369 million for education, and has awarded more than $614 million in prizes to 42 million players.
