Plant City Man Kills Self Following SWAT Stand-Off
A Plant City man has killed himself following a stand-off with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office SWAT team.

PLANT CITY, FL -- A Plant City man has killed himself following a stand-off with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office SWAT team.
Patrons at the Firehouse 92 Bar, 3709 U.S. 92 E. in Plant City, called 911 just before 3 a.m. on Thursday to report that Jason Robert Stuart, 34, was putting a gun to his head and threatening to shoot himself.
By the time deputies arrived, Stuart had left the bar and gotten into a Ford F150 pickup truck. Deputies followed him to an industrial area about a quarter of a mile from the Plant City Police Department.

For 45 minutes, deputies attempted to negotiate with Stuart to prevent him from hurting himself as the SWAT team arrived at the scene. Stuart eventually cut off communication. Around 4:30 a.m., deputies heard the sound of a gunshot. The SWAT team moved in and found Stuart in the pickup truck with a gunshot wound. He was transported to Lakeland Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
