Plant City Police Want To Connect With Cell Phone Burglars

Plant City Police are anxious to connect with whoever has been stealing cell phones from stores.

PLANT CITY, FL -- Plant City Police are anxious to connect with whoever has been stealing cell phones from stores.

The police are investigating three cell phone store burglaries in the last week and believe all three are connected.

The first burglary took place on June 21 at 12:30 a.m. at the Metro PC at 1707 James L. Redman Parkway. Police said three burglars smashed the front window of the store and stole $5,000 worth of cell phones and headsets.

The second burglary occurred June 25 at 2:54 a.m. at the Sprint at 2136 James L. Redman Parkway. Once again, three people entered the store and office area and stole $1,200 in cellphone accessories, then fled on bicycles. A half an hour later, burglars smashed the front window of them Metro PCS at 1713 Baker St. W. This time, they stole headphones valued at $400.

In each case, police said the thieves entered and left the store in approximately one minute. Surveillance video shows the the burglars carrying backpacks to hold the stolen merchandise. The suspects in the June 21, burglary can be seen on surveillance video wearing dark clothing and gloves.

Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay is offering a reward of up to $3,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of cell phone store burglars. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-8477.
