Plant City Police are investigating the shooting of a 10- to 12-week-old mixed pit bull puppy on Sunday morning, March 25.

PLANT CITY, FL -- Plant City Police want to know who shot a puppy and why anyone would do such a cruel thing.

Police, working with the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center, are investigating the shooting of a 10- to 12-week-old mixed pit bull puppy on Sunday morning, March 25.

According to police, a resident living near East Cherry Street and North Johnson Street in Plant City said she heard a gunshot shortly after 6 a.m. and discovered the black and white puppy shot in the intersection.

The puppy was rushed to Walden Lake Animal Clinic where it died.

Witnesses said they saw a white sedan speeding away from the area after the gunshot.
