• First responders battle tractor-trailer fire on Florida's Turnpike in Plantation (local10.com) — A tractor-trailer fire shut down part of Florida's Turnpike in Plantation Wednesday morning, but firefighters quickly put out the flames and no one was hurt. Plantation Fire Rescue, with help from passing public safety officials, cleared the scene and reopened lanes, while reminding local drivers to slow down, stay off phones, and give crews room to work.
   

• Coconut Creek's Tradewinds Park and Library Collecting Donations for Colombia Earthquake Relief (coconutcreektalk.com) — Broward County is collecting earthquake relief supplies for Colombia, and Plantation residents can help by dropping donations at West Regional Library. From nonperishable food and water to pet supplies and hygiene items, the countywide campaign offers a convenient way for Plantation neighbors to support hard-hit families abroad without leaving town.
   

• Dash camera video captures PIT maneuver during pursuit on Turnpike that ended in crash, death of innocent driver (wsvn.com) — A deadly Florida Turnpike pursuit that ended near the Sunrise Boulevard exit was captured on dash cam, with the incident reported from Plantation. Troopers used a PIT maneuver on an allegedly stolen truck that had hit two police cruisers, and an uninvolved 70-year-old driver was tragically killed in the chaos.
