Fire crews quickly contained the attic blaze in the new, unoccupied home, used roof ventilation to clear smoke and heat, and reported no injuries.
2. Port St. Lucie wastewater spill contained after power outage at lift station (wqcs.org) — Port St. Lucie officials say about 800 gallons of wastewater spilled from a city lift station Tuesday after a power outage, but most was recovered and no lasting impacts are expected. Crews used a vacuum truck and lime treatment, then notified regulators and restored power with a generator while cleaning the affected Hawthorne Circle area.
3. Florida man found dead was good-hearted, struggled with demons (tcpalm.com) — A Port St. Lucie family is mourning 41-year-old Michael Debevec II, a local graduate and former Swan Park soccer player who was recently found dead on Hutchinson Island. Relatives and friends describe a hardworking, deeply religious man who battled addiction and Tourette syndrome, but stayed devoted to his daughters and often helped others through tough times.
4. Orlando ranks among top three U.S. cities for Hispanic entrepreneurs, study finds (orlando-news.com) — Port St. Lucie ranks seventh nationwide in a new WalletHub list of best cities for Hispanic entrepreneurs, highlighting Florida's strong showing in the top spots. While Orlando placed third, the study notes Port St. Lucie's business-friendly climate and growing Hispanic community as part of a broader statewide trend favoring Hispanic-owned enterprises.
5. Nap In Stolen Car At Florida Mall Leads To Teen's Arrest And Solves Area Thefts (tampafp.com) — Port St. Lucie residents may soon get stolen cards and IDs back after Martin County deputies arrested an 18-year-old Fort Pierce man found napping in a stolen car at Treasure Coast Mall. Investigators say the haul of bank and ID cards links him to recent burglaries across St. Lucie County, and they're working with Port St. Lucie police to contact victims.
