Today's riddle: What is clean when it is black and dirty when it is white? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Missing 82-Year-Old Port St. Lucie Woman Found Safe (treasurecoast.today) — An 82-year-old Port St. Lucie woman who was reported missing and endangered early Wednesday has been located safe, according to city police. She was last seen near the 2100 block of SE Watercrest Street, prompting a community-wide search before officers confirmed her safety later in the day.
2. Florida boy in critical condition, struck by SUV on walk to school (tcpalm.com) — A 14-year-old Treasure Coast High School student is in critical condition after being hit by an SUV while walking along Southwest Port St. Lucie Boulevard near Squirrel Avenue early Wednesday morning. Port St. Lucie police say the 72-year-old driver thought he struck a construction barrel, then returned and called 911, and investigators are now asking anyone with dashcam or surveillance video from around 6 a.m. to contact them.
3. 'Just insanity': Port St. Lucie residents reacting to heavy rain and flooding (wpbf.com) — Port St. Lucie neighborhoods are still drying out after a fast, intense downpour flooded streets and swales, stranding some vehicles and prompting barricades along problem spots like Savona and California boulevards. City officials say most water receded by Tuesday night, but crews are monitoring drains, planning long-term stormwater fixes, and staying on standby for more heavy rain.
4. Service Academy Nominations (house.gov) — High schoolers and service members in the Port St. Lucie area can now apply through Congressman Brian Mast's office for nominations to U.S. service academies, with all materials due by November 1, 2026. The notice explains eligibility, required exams, fitness and medical assessments, and highlights that questions can be directed to the Port St. Lucie district office by phone.
5. Named Boys & Girls Clubs National Youth of the Year, UF student Enrique Rosario Liz hopes to help students thrive (ufl.edu) — A former Port St. Lucie student who once struggled with English has just been named Boys & Girls Clubs of America's National Youth of the Year. After thriving at Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County and graduating valedictorian from Port St. Lucie High, he's now at UF studying education and hopes to expand support for students like those he once taught here.
