• Layoffs loom as Gadsden Co. administrator, commissioner debate solutions to solve budget crunch (wctv.tv) — Gadsden County leaders in Quincy are weighing layoffs of 13 full-time and 4 part-time positions to close a nearly $1 million budget gap, after earlier operational cuts. The interim administrator and a county commissioner are clashing over how transparent the process should be, while also warning that a statewide property tax amendment in November could deepen the financial strain.
• Something Good: Grammy Award-winning artist, Quincy native donates guitars to alma mater (wctv.tv) — A Grammy-winning country artist who grew up in Quincy has come home to support local students, donating 10 guitars to the music program at his alma mater, Robert F. Munroe Day School. He spent time encouraging kids to pursue music, calling the visit a full-circle moment and a way to give back to the community that raised him.
• Local postal worker pleads guilty to stealing cash, gift cards from mail (wctv.tv) — A U.S. Postal Service worker from Tallahassee has pleaded guilty to stealing cash and gift cards from the mail, including using some of the stolen cards at a Quincy gas station. Investigators say surveillance footage and a search of her car linked her to multiple intercepted gifts, and she now faces up to five years in prison on each count.
