1 Killed, Multiple Others Hospitalized In Sarasota Shooting: Police
The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is investigating after the shooting occurred in the 3400 block of 17th Street.
SARASOTA, FL — One person was killed and multiple others were hospitalized following an early-morning shooting in Sarasota on Saturday.
The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office said the shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. at the Tallywood Centre Plaza located in the 3400 block of 17th Street. When deputies arrived, they found a large crowd gathered in the parking lot and multiple shooting victims nearby.
Tommie L. Battie IV, 24, died at the scene, authorities said. Four other victims were taken to hospitals in Manatee and Sarasota counties for treatment. Their current conditions are unknown.

Authorities didn't say what led to the shooting or if a suspect was in custody.
The shooting remains under investigation.
