With COVID-19 Cases Decreasing In Sarasota County, 2 Testing Sites Scale Back Hours: DOH

COVID-19 testing no longer available on Saturdays at the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex in Sarasota, Dallas White Park in North Port.

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — With the number of COVID-19 cases reported in Sarasota County decreasing, two testing sites will no longer operate on Saturdays starting this weekend.

The Robert L. Taylor Community Complex in Sarasota and Dallas White Park in North Port will end COVID-19 testing on Saturdays, the Department of Health in Sarasota County said in a news release.

These sites will continue to operate Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Hours of operation at the former Sarasota Kennel Club site and the Ed Smith Stadium parking lot remain unchanged.

The changes at the Taylor Community Complex and Dallas White Park come after just 190 new COVID-19 cases and a 2.5 percent positivity rate were reported in Sarasota County the week of Oct. 15-21, according to data from the Florida Department of Health.

Even with the decrease in COVID-19 cases, testing remains available at the following sites:

  • Sarasota Kennel Club (5400 Old Bradenton Road, Sarasota): This drive-thru site is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and offers rapid and PCR COVID-19 testing. This site is operated by Nomi Health.
  • Dallas White Park (5900 Greenwood Ave., North Port): This walk-up site is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and offers PCR and rapid COVID-19 testing. This site is operated by Lab Services.
  • Ed Smith Stadium parking lot (2700 12th Street, Sarasota): This drive-thru site is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and offers PCR testing only. This site is operated by Real Diagnostics and CDR Maguire.
  • Robert L. Taylor Community Complex parking lot (1845 34th Street, Sarasota): This walk-up site is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and offers PCR and rapid testing. This site is operated by Lab Services.

All four sites will test anyone regardless of symptoms. Testing is free, but individuals being testing will be asked to provide health insurance information, the DOH said.
