2 Dead, 1 Injured In Fiery Crash In Sarasota County: FL Highway Patrol
Two people were killed and another injured in a fiery head-on collision early Tuesday morning on River Road, Florida Highway Patrol said.
SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — Two people were killed after their car became engulfed in flames in an early Tuesday morning crash in Sarasota County, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
The car was traveling south on River Road around 3:30 a.m., south of West Villages Parkway, at the same time an SUV was heading north on the road.
The car crossed the center line, entering the northbound lane in front of the approaching SUV, hitting it head-on, FHP said.

After the crash, the car caught fire and the SUV overturned onto the northbound shoulder.
The car’s driver and passenger, who haven’t been identified, were pronounced dead at the scene, FHP said.

The SUV’s driver, a 64-year-old North Port woman, was brought to a local hospital with serious injuries.
