2 Injured in Hit-And-Run Crash

The wreck occurred late Wednesday evening, leaving a Sarasota man and a Bradenton woman injured.

Two people were injured during a Wednesday night hit-and-run crash on U.S. 41 at 49th Avenue Drive West in Bradenton.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the hit-and-run vehicle, a white Honda CRV, was heading southbound on U.S. 41 just north of 49th Avenue just after 9 p.m. The driver, who troopers say is a white male with gray hair, lost control of his car and struck the front right side of a Lincoln Navigator driven by Santier Gibson, 27, of Bradenton. The CRV then spun and hit the left side of a Nissan Altima driven by Eduardo Lopez, 24, of Sarasota.

The driver of the CRV fled the scene after impact.

Gibson was taken to Blake Medical Center with serious injuries. Lopez suffered minor injuries and was transported to Manatee Memorial Hospital, a highway patrol report said.

Witnesses and the two injured drivers told troopers the Honda suffered extensive damage and was last seen heading south on U.S. 41.
