2 Teens In Ski Masks Crash Stolen Car On Beneva Road: Sarasota Police
Two teenage boys in ski masks led Sarasota police on a short chase before crashing a stolen car into a shed on Beneva Road, SPD said.
SARASOTA, FL — Two teenage boys in ski masks face charges after crashing a stolen car on Beneva Road Tuesday afternoon, according to a Sarasota Police Department news release.
The 16-year-old driver was charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing to elude and obstruction without violence. His 15-year-old passenger was charged with obstruction without violence, police said.
Both were booked into Sarasota County Jail. Additional charges will be forthcoming from the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

The teens weren't named by Sarasota police and it is Patch's policy not to identify teens in the juvenile court system. It is not clear whether the suspects are being charged as juveniles or adults.
Just before 12:30 p.m., SPD received a tip that two "suspicious occupants'' of a green Kia Sol, who were both wearing ski masks, were driving recklessly near 23rhd Street and Osprey Avenue, police said. Officers spotted the car in the area of Fruitville and Beneva Roads, heading east.

Before they could pull the Kia over, it left city limits, traveling into Sarasota County, and drove into a shed in the 900 block of Beneva Road, police said. There were no injuries.
The sheriff's office is handling the crash investigation, while SPD is handling the criminal investigation of the stolen car.
