3 Busted with 83 Counterfeit Credit Cards
Deputies arrested the men in Sarasota County on Friday.

Three South Florida men on a shopping trip to Sarasota County had their fun end with a ride to jail courtesy of some quick-thinking security staff at a local Walmart.
Sarasota County deputies say Walmart’s asset protection personnel noticed the three men were using multiple credit cards to buy a wide array of items and gift cards inside the Cattlemen Road store Friday. As the men racked up thousands of dollars in purchases on laundry soap, clothing, diapers, potato chips and gift cards, store security called the sheriff’s office.
When deputies arrived to investigate, they discovered the men were using 83 credit cards that had had their magnetic strips altered with information belonging to credit cards whose numbers were different than the ones embossed on the front of the cards, a media release stated. Detectives also found 43 gift cards valued at $5,500, along with all the goods purchased using the fraudulent cards.
