3 Charged After Drugs, Cash Seized From Sarasota Home: Police

SARASOTA, FL — Three suspects face multiple drug-related charges after officers executed a search warrant Friday morning at a Sarasota home in the 1100 block of 40th Street, police said.

The search warrant was issued after a man died of a cocaine and fentanyl overdose at the home in May, as well as multiple complaints from residents and numerous undercover drug buys from the home in recent months, according to a news release from the Sarasota Police Department.

Charles Allen, 54, and Sheena Denrow, 37, both of Sarasota, were arrested and charged with one count of trafficking in cocaine, 28 to 200 grams and possession of a structure for trafficking in a controlled substance, which are felonies.

Darrow also had a warrant for sale of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a park, SPD said.

Derek Morgan, 41, of Sarasota, was arrested and charged with two counts of trafficking in cocaine, 28 to 200 grams, as well as possession or conveyance of structure for trafficking a controlled substance.

He also had a warrant for sale of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a park, police said.

Officers seized the following illegal narcotics, money and other items from the home:

  • 38.7 grams of crack cocaine in the living room
  • 35 grams of powder cocaine in a bedroom
  • Smith & Wesson .40 semi-automatic, which was stolen out of Sarasota County
  • $2,701 in U.S. currency in Morgan’s possession

“We are going to continue to execute search warrants in the city of Sarasota,” Chief Rex Troche said. “If you live in the city of Sarasota and you see illegal activity happening in your neighborhood, call us. You can remain anonymous. We’ll investigate every tip, and we’ll continue to work to stop illegal narcotics in our beautiful city.”
