Officers responded to an Aug. 4 burglary at a home on Tangier Way just after 8:30 p.m. The victims returned from dinner to find a large glass door had been broken and a safe in a closet had been cut and pried open. Their passports, vehicle titles, and more than $200,000 in designer handbags and jewelry were stolen, according to police.

Surveillance video shows three men wearing gloves and masks entering the home. One of the suspects is seen talking on a radio to an unknown person, who detectives believe was the lookout for the victims to return.

Detectives reviewed the video footage and tracked a Honda Odyssey van that drove away from the home following the burglary. The same van was found at the restaurant where the victims were having dinner before the burglary happened.

An SUV was also seen pulling into a parking lot near the restaurant, but no one got out of it, and it didn’t move while the victims were inside. Police believe the suspects in the SUV were communicating with those in the van, which was rented in Fort Lauderdale and later found at a hotel in Orange County.

A search warrant executed in Orange County focused on the two vehicles and a hotel room, police said. More than $122,000 in cash, Louis Vuitton bags, cell phones, identification from various states and countries, and jewelry.

The suspects were arrested and refused to speak with law enforcement.
