5 Caspersen Beach, Jelks Preserve Flashers Arrested
The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office conducted a sting last week after receiving reports of men exposing their sexual organs.
VENICE, FL — Five men face misdemeanor charges after detectives from the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office say they were caught exposing their genitalia during an undercover operation conducted last week.
According to the agency, deputies received several complaints about lewd activity at Caspersen Beach, 4100 Harbor Drive, and Jelks Preserve, 2300 River Road, over the past few weeks.
“According to witnesses, the suspects would reportedly offer sexual favors and expose their genitals at different areas within the parks,” a media release announcing the arrests stated.

Deputies decided to look into the complaints by conducting an undercover operation. They visited Jelks Preserve on Wednesday, April 20, and went to Caspersen Beach on Friday, April 22.
“During the two-day operation, five men were arrested for offering sexual favors and exposing themselves to detectives,” the media release noted.

All five men arrested during the sting now face exposure of sexual organs charges. The charge is a misdemeanor that carries a $500 bond. Those arrested were:
- Daniel Colvin, 43, of Englewood
- Roger Johnson, 84, of Englewood
- Walter Rock, 75, of Sarasota
- Herbert Sharp, 76, of Wilton Manors
- James Walden, 76, of Venice
