6 FL Cities Make Top 20 List Of Worst Places In U.S. For Allergies

FLORIDA — Florida might not be the best place for those who suffer from allergies, according to a new study from the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.

Six cities in the Sunshine State made the foundation’s top 20 list of Allergy Capitals, which are the most challenging places to live with allergies in the U.S., for 2023.

The list was compiled using total pollen scores (tree, grass and weed), over-the-counter allergy medicine use and the number of allergy specialists in an area.

Sarasota was the highest-ranking Florida city on the list at No. 6.

Ahead of Sarasota on the list are:

1. Wichita, Kansas

2. Dallas, Texas

3. Scranton, Pennsylvania

4. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

5. Tulsa, Oklahoma

All Florida cities to make the top 20 list include:

7. Cape Coral

14. Miami

15. Lakeland

17. Palm Bay

18. Tampa

“The burden of seasonal pollen allergies falls heavily on the eastern and southern parts of the country,” the foundation said.
