Additional First-Dose Vaccine Appointments Available Wednesday

Many people are declining appointment notifications for Wednesday's vaccination clinic, so the county will book additional appointments.

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — Because many seniors have declined appointments for a first-dose coronavirus vaccination clinic taking place Tuesday and Wednesday at Sarasota Square Mall, Sarasota County will send out additional booking notifications to people signed up through the county’s Everbridge vaccine registration system.

“These notices have already gone out. However, additional notices will go out later today as we continue to see an increase in appointment declines,” Brianne Grant, the county’s media relations officer, said in an email.

Those who receive an appointment notification have two hours to confirm or decline it. If an individual declines an appointment, they won't lose their place in the queue. They'll be contacted for the next available vaccine clinic.

If receiving notifications by phone, the call will come from 941-861-8297. Emails will come from the Department of Health in Sarasota County COVID-19 Vaccine Registration System using the email address DOHcovid19vaccine@scgov.net. And those notified by text will receive a messaged from the number 88911.

Those receiving appointment notifications must respond and will have three options, Grant said. Those options are confirming the appointment, indicating they’re unavailable on the date offered or opting out of the system and deleting their account.
