Aldi Grocery Store Opens At Westfield Siesta Key Mall
The grocery store has taken over the space left vacant by Lucky's Market, which filed for bankruptcy and closed most of its stores.

SARASOTA, FL — The first Aldi in the city of Sarasota is now open at 3501 S Tamiami Trail at Westfield Siesta Key. The new store is open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The grocery retailer has taken over the space left behind at the mall when Lucky’s Market filed for bankruptcy and closed most of its stores last year.
According to Aldi's website, the brand’s mission is to provide “a faster, easier and smarter way to save money on high-quality groceries and more.” More than 90 percent of the products sold at its stores are Aldi-exclusive brands.

Aldi owns and operates nearly 2,000 stores in 36 states. It’s on track to become the third-largest grocery chain by store count in the United States by the end of 2022, the retailer said.
In July 2020, the retailer announced expansion plans to add at least 70 new stores. This included growth in the Gulf Coast market with the addition of a new distribution center in Alabama, and new stores in Alabama and Florida.

There are currently 164 Aldi stores in Florida. In addition to Sarasota, new locations in the Sunshine State include Cocoa, Jacksonville, Kissimmee and Loxahatchee Groves.
“Each new store is an opportunity to serve another community, which is an honor and responsibility we do not take lightly,” Jason Hart, CEO of ALDI U.S., said in a press release. “As we continue to expand, we promise to do everything in our power to offer the lowest prices, every day, without exception. In fact, as food costs are rising across the country, we’re lowering prices on hundreds of items to meet our customers’ increased need for savings.”
