AMC Theatres Makes Texting Decision That Affects Tampa Bay
The national movie theater chain announced a final decision on its texting ban Friday morning.

Tampa Bay area movie lovers who dreaded the idea of AMC Theatres allowing texting inside its shows can breathe a sigh of relief. The company announced Friday morning that it’s just not going to happen.
In a letter to AMC guests, CEO Adam Aron, who initially pitched the idea, said the company “heard loud and clear that this is a concept our audience does not want.”
Aron took over as CEO of AMC only a few short months ago. In that time, he’s already managed to broker a deal for his company to buy out Carmike theaters. In addition, he’s pitched expanded food options and a more robust loyalty program, according to Variety. While those moves have all been applauded by guests, the idea to relax the texting ban simply was not.

“With your advice in hand, there will be NO TEXTING ALLOWED in any of the auditoriums at AMC Theatres. Not today, not tomorrow and not in the foreseeable future,” he wrote.
Aron’s letter was posted on the company’s Twitter feed Friday morning.
