Drowning Near Lido Beach Under Investigation: Sarasota Police

SARASOTA, FL — A man's Monday night drowning death near Lido Key is under investigation, Sarasota police said in a news release.

Officers responded to reports of a drowning in the 400 block of Benjamin Franklin Drive just before 7 p.m.

Before they arrived, the man was pulled to shore by bystanders, police said.

He was pronounced dead by Sarasota County Emergency Services.

Detectives don't believe foul play was involved.
