Cabot® Creamery’s Tasty, Healthy and Affordable Greek-Style Yogurt has now arrived in Florida Walmart stores – in time for fun, fall meals

Here’s some good news for sports fans or anyone who wants a tasty way to cut the fat in their classic tailgating or game-watching cuisine: Florida Walmart stores
now carry Cabot® Creamery’s Greek-Style Yogurt.

The delicious and affordable dairy product can be used as an alternative in many recipes for savory snacks and meals, helping people eat healthier on game day or any day and allowing fans to watch their waistlines while cheering on their teams.

The yogurt, which comes in several flavors, just
became easier to find now that Florida Walmart stores, featuring refrigerated grocery items, carry the popular Cabot product. And as the cooler weather arrives and many people are reminded of their favorite comfort foods,
which can have enormous amounts of fats and calories, Cabot offers several easy recipes for lighter snacks and meals that use the delicious yogurt.

More and more Americans are moving towards Greek-style yogurts, which are higher in protein, often lower in sugar, and applauded by many fans as being richer tasting and more satisfying.  And Cabot’s Greek-Style Yogurt is more affordable than other leading brands, and richer and creamier than traditional yogurt.

Embracing the trend, Walmart, the world’s largest retailer, will begin carrying Cabot’s Greek-Style Yogurt in nearly 200 of its stores and Supercenters located throughout South Carolina, Georgia and Florida.  Flavors include: Cabot’s Plain, Lowfat Plain, Lowfat Vanilla Bean, and Lowfat
Strawberry
. The four varieties will be available on shelves in 1-pound and 2-pound containers.

“Some people have the misperception that just because
Greek-style yogurts taste richer, they aren’t a healthful choice,” says Regan Jones, Augusta-based registered
dietitian and Cabot’s National Nutrition Communications Manager. “But the reality is the extra protein in Greek-style yogurt makes it a very satisfying food, which may help with appetite control. In addition to protein, Cabot’s
Greek-Style Yogurt is also a great source of Vitamins A, C, D and E, and calcium. Research continues to suggest there are long-term health benefits to adding yogurt to your diet, especially in terms of gastrointestinal health and weight management,” Jones adds.

In fact, in a recent study published in the New England
Journal of Medicine
, Harvard researchers indicated nonfat or lowfat varieties of yogurt might help keep age-related weight gain in check. The study showed people tended to gain less weight over time if yogurt was a part of their diet, and suggested that the influence of yogurt’s “healthy bacteria” on the digestive system might be responsible for the benefit.

“But even with the health benefits and richer tastes of
Greek-style yogurts, many people find the switch isn’t always an easy one when it comes to their grocery bill” Jones points out. “Per pound, some Greek yogurts can often be more than twice the price of traditional yogurts.”

“The good news is that Cabot’s Greek-Style Yogurt is a
perfect choice for families who want to eat healthier, but still keep their grocery budgets low,” Jones says. "Compared to the average cost per pound of other national brands, Cabot Greek-Style Yogurt is comparable to traditional yogurt and can be as much as 50% lower in price than other Greek yogurts, but with just as much great taste and nutritional value.”

Cabot’s Greek-Style Yogurt has added whey and milk protein, both high-quality dairy ingredients that ultimately increase the protein and richness of the product. The process of producing Greek-style yogurt, which is more efficient with less waste compared to making traditional Greek yogurt, produces a nutritionally higher-value, lower-cost product that's a great source of protein and Vitamin D.

While the health benefits of Cabot Greek-style yogurt are
broad, Jones says so are the cooking advantages. Regan recommends experimenting with Greek-style yogurt in your favorite recipes that call for cream, sour cream or buttermilk.
