A 28-year-old Sarasota man faces criminal charges after deputies say he attacked a jogger running on Sawyer Road Thursday night.
According to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, a woman was jogging northbound on Sawyer Road’s sidewalk, north of Clark Road, when a man came out of the bushes and grabbed her. The man, a sheriff’s office media release stated, used both hands to try and pull the woman into the bushes.
The woman, who is in her 30s, fought back and was able to get away and call 911. The sheriff’s office responded with its helicopter and K9 units. The man was located and identified by the woman as her attacker, the release stated.

Jake R. Shore now faces kidnapping/false imprisonment charges. He was also charged with loitering. Shore was being held in the Sarasota County Jail Friday morning in lieu of $1,620 bond.
