Arrest Made In Sarasota Stabbing Death

The man was wanted in connection with the May 29 death of Willie C. Howard.

SARASOTA, FL — A 45-year-old Sarasota man faces criminal charges in connection with the stabbing death of a Bradenton man.

According to the Sarasota Police Department, Larry Bernard Pace, who goes by the name “Nuke,” turned himself into authorities Friday afternoon. Pace has been charged with murder in the stabbing that occurred on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way, near North Washington Boulevard, on May 29.

Police say Howard, 42, was a passenger in a vehicle in the 1800 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard the afternoon of May 29 when Pace approached. Pace is accused of leaning into the passenger side of the vehicle through an open window and attacking Howard, a probable cause affidavit said.

The two men, investigators were told, were arguing over a woman.

Howard was taken to a local hospital for treatment, but died from his injuries.

Pace was booked into the Sarasota County Jail Friday afternoon.
