Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota Kicks Off 30th Anniversary Season on October 12

The first concerts of the season feature a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winner, local favorites performing Russian works, and royal fun

Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota presents Grammy Lifetime Achievement winner Nicholas Eanet with Jungeun Kim, Natalie Helm, and Bharat Chandra in Contrasts on October 12 at First Presbyterian Church. Legacy – a soirée with Dr. Joseph Holt, Daniel Jordan, and Christopher Schnell performing the works of Russian composers – is October 20 at the Fischer/Weisenborne residence. The Queen’s Six returns to Sarasota on October 28, following a sold-out concert in 2023, this time performing at First Congregational United Church of Christ. The 30th anniversary season opens with a concert in the Sunday Best series on October 12, 4:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church. Contrasts features violinist Nicholas Eanet, recipient of a 2011 Grammy Award for Lifetime Achievement, with pianist Jungeun Kim, cellist Natalie Helm, and clarinetist Bharat Chandra. The program includes piano trios by Schubert and Dvořák; and Bela Bartok’s Contrasts, which was commissioned by Benny Goodman. Tickets are $50 for general seating and $70 for VIP seating (includes post-concert reception with the artists). A 10% discount is offered when purchasing the complete Sunday Best series on or before October 11.

The trademark Soirée series consists of 4:00 p.m. concerts presented in the one-of-a-kind music room of the Fischer/Weisenborne residence. Legacy, which celebrates the dedication of Dr. Joseph Holt as a star of Sarasota’s music scene for the past 16 years, kicks off this series on October 19 (sold out) and October 20. Holt joins Sarasota Orchestra concertmaster Daniel Jordan and assistant principal cellist Christopher Schnell in a program of works by Russian composers Kabalevsky, Prokofiev, Rachmaninoff, and Shostakovich, exploring each composer’s response to Soviet oppression. Tickets are $70 (includes refreshments following each performance). A 10% discount is offered when purchasing the complete Soirée series on or before October 12.

The Top Shelf Tuesdays series is back for its second season featuring international superstars in concert at 7:30 p.m. at First Congregational United Church of Christ. The Queen’s Six returns to Sarasota on October 28 for an encore to their sold-out 2023 Artist Series Concerts performance. Living and working in Windsor Castle, the group performs at weekly services and events for the royal family—including the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and the committal part of Queen Elizabeth II’s official funeral services. Their diverse repertoire includes austere early chant, florid Renaissance polyphony, madrigals, folk songs, and jazz and pop arrangements. Tickets are $50 for general seating and $70 for VIP seating; a 10% discount is offered when purchasing the complete Top Shelf Tuesdays series on or before October 27.
