Back To School: Here Are Some Events To Help Students Get Ready

SARASOTA, FL -- Organizations are hosting a number of events to help Sarasota students get ready for the new school year.

School Supply Giveaway

The nonprofit Sarasota organization Dollar Dynasty Inc. is sponsoring a school supply giveaway every Saturday for families in need.

Dollar Dynasty Inc. at 1922 Martin Luther King Jr. Way in Sarasota will host the giveaway at its storefront each Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon.

Children in kindergarten through 12th grade, accompanied by a parent or guardian, can receive pencils, books, staplers, calculators and backpacks in preparation for the 2018-19 school year.

Dollar Dynasty, established in 2003, is a registered nonprofit organization serving the homeless and underprivileged adults and children of greater Sarasota.

Donation Drive

The Burn Boot Camp, 5045 Fruitville Road, Sarasota, will host a school supply drive to benefit Fruitville Elementary School. Donations should be dropped off by Aug. 7. Click here for information.

Celebrate at Music Compound

The Music Compound, 1751 Cattlemen Road, Sarasota, will host a free back-to-school celebration Aug. 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will feature live music, food trucks, a bounce house, crafts, face painting, beer samples and more.
