Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested

Sarasota County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested Matthew Richard Rogers, 34, on one count of Armed Robbery for a bank robbery that occurred earlier today at the located at 3600, Bee Ridge Road.

At 2:30 this afternoon, Rogers entered the bank and demanded money at gun point, the Sheriff's Office said. Deputies, with the assistance of a bank customer, took the suspect into custody in the bank parking lot.

The investigation is continuing, and additional information will be released tomorrow upon completion of the investigation.

The Sheriff's Office said Rogers has an extensive criminal history, including arrests for burglary, auto theft and reckless driving.
