‘Best Places For Snowbirds In U.S.’ List Dominated By FL Cities

Dozens of Florida cities, including Eight of the top 10, landed on a new list of "Best Places for Snowbirds in the U.S."

FLORIDA — The Sunshine State continues to be the top destination for snowbirds in the United States, according to a new list from StorageCafe.

Eight of the top 10 cities on the “Best Places for Snowbirds in the U.S.” list are in Florida. And the state is the best overall with 42 cities in the top 100.
The top Florida cities on the list are:
  • No. 1 - Venice
  • No. 2 - Vero Beach
  • No. 3 - Fort Pierce
  • No. 4 - Naples
  • No. 5 - Lake Wales
  • No. 8 - Tarpon Springs
  • No. 9 - Fort Myers
  • No. 10 - Clermont

To compile the list, StorageCafe analyzed and ranked 215 U.S. cities across 11 snowbird-friendly states.

A number of factors were considered, including:

  • Average temperatures, rainfall and air quality during snowbird season, which typically runs October to March
  • Beaches within a 10-mile radius of each locationGolf courses per capita
  • Availability and cost of both seasonal rentals and housing
  • Availability of RV parks
  • Number of restaurants
  • Self-storage prices
  • Local internet speed
  • Safety
  • Healthcare-related factors, including Medicare pricing for new patients, and the number of hospitals, medical professionals, and other medical facilities in an area
