Bicyclist Dies After Being Hit By Dump Truck: Sarasota Police
The death of a bicyclist who was hit by a dump truck Thursday morning remains under investigation, Sarasota police said.
SARASOTA, FL — The Sarasota Police Department’s Traffic Unit is investigating the death of a bicyclist hit by a dump truck Thursday morning, according to a news release from the agency.
Just before 9 a.m., the 55-year-old Sarasota man was riding his bicycle north on Pineapple Avenue, approaching the intersection of Ringling Boulevard, police said. He collided with the dump truck as it entered the intersection.
The bicyclist was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The dump truck driver remained on the scene and was cooperative with officers, police said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
