Bicyclist Hit By Car In Sarasota Crash: Police

SARASOTA, FL — A bicyclist was injured when they were hit by a car on a Sarasota road Friday morning, according to police.

Sarasota authorities said the crash happened around 7 a.m. at the intersection of Fruitville Road and Lime Avenue. Police did not specify the nature of the cyclist's injuries.

The eastbound lanes of Fruitville were shut down for a short time while officers cleared the scene, according to police. The lanes reopened around 9 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation.
