SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — Booker High School’s football program has a new head coach.
Scottie Littles will lead the Tornadoes moving forward, according to a news release from Sarasota County Schools.

Littles returns to Booker High School, where he has twice served as assistant coach, after a stint as head football coach at Palm Beach Central in Wellington, Florida.

In the three seasons he coached the Palm Beach Broncos, he secured a 22-5 overall record and the team won two district titles. Littles said the third title would have been within reach, but COVID-19 prevented the team from moving forward.

In Wellington, his team competed three times in the highly rigorous crosstown rivalry: The Wellington Cup. Under his leadership, the Palm Beach Central Broncos were champions all three years.

Now, Littles is excited to bring his coaching skills and relationship-building to Booker High School.

“Booker High has such a rich competitive tradition and the potential to be a top-tier program. I want to inject excitement back into the program,” Littles said.

His priorities will be on meeting the athletes and their families, restructuring the off-season program, creating an open-door policy of feedback, and helping student athletes create lifetime memories.

Booker High School Principal Dr. Rachel Shelley said Littles has every quality vital to being a head coach.

“His student-centered approach ensures that players have all the support they need to be successful both on and off the field,” she said.

Shelley noted that Littles has a strong focus on aligning with the school’s mission of graduating all its students with a post-secondary plan in place.

“Mr. Littles’ approach is motivational and uplifting, and our boys will certainly thrive – as athletes, as students and as people – under his leadership,” she said.

Littles will officially begin on Feb. 22. He’ll spend the first few months getting to know the athletes and their families, as well as work on becoming a leader on campus.

“Everything I do is based on relationships,” he said.

He will move to the area with his wife, Keline, who is a graduate of Bayshore High School and the University of South Florida.

Littles said his family is eager to move back to Sarasota and establish roots in the community. The couple have a 2-year-old son, Kason, and are expecting a second child.
