Brasserie Belge Honors Belgium Independence Day
I am always looking forward to a summer celebration and when I heard Brasserie Belge was bringing the true Belgian Independence celebration to Sarasota Main Street- I signed up with a group of friends, to eat, drink and dance the night away.

Christian Zebier of Brasserie Belge has organized a grand culinary event to celebrate Belgium Independence Day, and he’s inviting all his friends to come and savor the tastes of authentic Belgian foods and beers at a Fete Nationale.
The event is Thursday, July 21 from 6pm - 1am and includes a cocktail hour and then a lavish dinner organized at seven different food stations within the restaurant at 1990 Main Street (across from the Hollywood 20 Cinema).
An elevator takes patrons directly to the restaurant. There will be violin music during dinner hours and from 9:30 - 1 a.m. a DJ plays music for dancing and fun. The all-inclusive price for Fete Nationale is $60 (if reserved in advance) or $75 at the door. To reserve, phone 706-1944.

To prepare for Fete Nationale, the restaurant will be closed that day for lunch.
Independence Day of Belgium is celebrated on 21 July, the day the nation gained its freedom from the domination of the Netherlands in the year 1831. It commemorates the formal establishment of the independent kingdom and the crowning of Leopold I of Saxe-Coburg. Prince Leopold I was appointed king on the condition of his commitment to support the constitution drawn up by the National Congress.

“We have enjoyed a wonderful initial season here in Sarasota and I am delighted and grateful that so many Americans and foreign visitors to Sarasota have come to know and to appreciate the authentic tastes of Belgium at our restaurant,” said Zebier.
Some of the tempting authentic Belgian food stations that guests coming to Fete Nationale can expect to enjoy include Belgian mussels, steak tartare, Belgian burgers, pasta, European cheeses, tapas and luxurious desserts featuring Belgian crepes and chocolate. Belgian beers served too.
