Ever wonder why some of your flower and garden photos just don't look as spectacular, stellar, or special as you expected? Instructor Suzanne Havens will teach you how to make more compelling flower and garden photos through demonstration and hands-on practice in the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens learning center, gardens and conservatory. We’ll cover composition tips; taming the clutter; taming the light and shadows; flexibility with exposure: speed, aperture, and ISO; going beyond auto setting; and tactics where tripods are not allowed. This workshop will cover both beginner and intermediate concepts, and is not specific to a particular camera model, so you may use your smart phone, fixed lens camera, and advanced camera with interchangeable lenses. You need to bring your camera to practice. A complete list of suggestions of what to wear and bring will be emailed to you upon registration. $60 per person, limited to 15; registration at ArtsAdvocates.org.

Eddie is a native Floridian. He has been singing and playing piano since he was eight years old. Attending the University of Miami, Eddie was in the Studio Music and Jazz Piano program. He entertained around the country and on cruise ships. He spent 15 great years in Nashville accompanying the Forester Sisters, who opened for Kenny Rogers, and traveling with Brenda Lee. For seven and a half years, Eddie was music director, pianist, conductor and arranger for Engelbert Humperdinck. While attending a Eddie Tobin show you will hear jazz, blues, standards, ragtime, classical, pop, calypso and country music. People will enjoy his renditions of songs by Jimmy Buffett, Leon Russell, Ray Charles and Johnny Cash.

Hailing from Siberia, classical saxophonist Valentin Kovalev is an ebullient and highly eclectic performer whose unique style was developed after studying in Russia, France, and the United States. Winner of multiple prestigious international competitions, Kovalev gave a sold-out debut recital at Carnegie Hall during the 2023-24 season. His work is driven by his love of fostering connections, exemplified by his vast community on social media, and he has committed support to Ukrainian saxophonists and other marginalized voices in the classical music world. Joined by Joseph Holt on piano, Kovalev’s program includes music by Bach, Rachmaninoff, Bizet, and Piazzolla.
