Car Hit By Mack Truck While Changing Lanes On I-75 In Venice: FHP

A Lehigh Acres man was critically injured in a three-vehicle crash in Sarasota County on Wednesday morning, Florida Highway Patrol said.

VENICE, FL — A driver changing lanes in front of a Mack tractor-trailer truck caused a three-vehicle crash on I-75 in Venice Wednesday morning, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

A 34-year-old Lehigh Acres man was heading north in the left lane of the interstate near River Road around 9:45 a.m. when he tried to move into the center lane, causing the truck in that lane to hit the back of his car, the agency said.

This caused the car to drive off the road to the right and hit a traffic sign and several trees, according to FHP. A Jeep in the right lane was hit by debris from the car.
