VENICE, FL — A driver mistakenly drove his car up the ramp of a parked car carrier making a delivery the night of Nov. 16, “leaving it hanging over the edge precariously close to falling off,” Venice Fire Rescue shared on its Facebook page.

The agency found the car stuck on top of the carrier when it responded to a vehicle accident near the intersection of Pinebrook Road and Pinebrook Way around 10:30 p.m.

First responders found the driver, an uninjured man, sitting inside the car. He remained inside as crews stabilized the vehicle using industrial straps to secure the front to the car carrier and a wrecker secured it from behind, VFR said. After this, the driver was safely extricated from the car.

There were no injuries and Venice police cited the driver for careless driving, the fire department said.

The car carrier was dropping off a vehicle to a nearby resident when the accident happened. It was parked under a streetlight with its ramp down and its hazards on when the car hit it and accidentally drove up the ramp, according to VFR.
