Cardinal Mooney High Closed Monday Due To Social Media Threat
Superintendent of Catholic Schools fKristy Swol sent parents an email alerting them that school was canceled due to a threat on social media

SARASOTA, FL -- Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School is closed today, Monday, Feb. 26, after a possible threat surfaced on a social media site late Sunday night.
Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Venice, Kristy Swol, sent parents an email alerting them that school was canceled "out of an abundance of caution."
The threat was posted in a chat group on the social media site Snap Chat by someone who may be a student at the school. The message threatens to shoot students, especially upperclassmen, at the school located at 4171 Fruitville Road in Sarasota.

"Student safety is our No. 1 priority," Swol said. "The appropriate authorities are investigating the situation to ensure the safety of our students. The situation will be evaluated and we will provide you updated information tomorrow afternoon regarding school opening procedures for Tuesday..."
All after-school activities have been canceled as well.
