Charges for Driver Accused of Hitting Sarasota Bicyclist

A 77-year-old Sun City woman faces two citations following a Sarasota crash that sent a woman to the hospital.

The incident occurred around 10 a.m. Saturday as a husband and wife were riding their bicycles on John Ringling Boulevard, east of the twin bridges and west of Bird Key Park. According to the Sarasota Police Department, the wife was struck by a baby blue Chrysler 300 driven by an elderly woman.

The motorist, police said, left the scene. A search for the driver kicked off and ended shortly thereafter with the woman located by police.

Judith Bullock now faces careless driving and leaving the scene of a crash charges in relation to the hit-and-run, police wrote in an email to media.

The woman struck in the accident was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
