Chihuahua, Owner Rescued After Falling Off Boat In Sarasota: Watch

A chihuahua named Tinkerbell and her owner were rescued by police Friday night after falling off a boat at the Sarasota Yacht Club.

SARASOTA, FL — A chihuahua named Tinkerbell and her owner were pulled from the water by police Friday night after falling off a boat at the Sarasota Yacht Club, the Sarasota Police Department shared in a Facebook post.

The agency’s Marine Patrol Unit responded to help Sarasota County Emergency Services with the water rescue.

While the Sarasota County Fire Department rescued her owner quickly, Tinkerbell was in the water for about 40 minutes, police said.

In bodycam footage shared by SPD, officers can be seen searching for the pup and calling out to her. (Watch the bodycam footage of the rescue below.)

“Tinkerbell, come on pup pup,” one officer can be heard saying in the video.

Eventually, the officer is seen calling to Tinkerbell after spotting her. They found her “hunkered on a little piece of floating wood underneath the dock,” the officer told those waiting on land.

“We are happy to report Tinkerbell is safe and healthy. She has been reunited with her owner, who is grateful to the officers who saved his furry companion,” police wrote on Facebook.
