Child Porn Arrest Serves as Cautionary Tale, Deputies Say
A Sarasota man is accused of not only downloading illegal pornography, but using his neighbor's internet connection to do so.

A Sarasota woman was just being neighborly when she gave the man who lives next door the password to her wireless router.
That act of kindness, however, backfired when a Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office detective discovered that 55 files containing pornographic images of children had been downloaded to the woman’s IP address. Wasting no time, the computer forensics specialist obtained a search warrant for the woman’s Hand Avenue home. That warrant was served Wednesday.
When deputies arrived at the home, they learned the woman, who lived alone, had shared her password with her next door neighbor. A check of the woman’s electronic devices uncovered no child pornography whatsoever.

With new information in hand, deputies obtained a search warrant for the home next door. That warrant was also served Wednesday.
Once inside Steven Greenzweig’s home, deputies were able to access his Acer laptop and also confirm that the neighbor next door allowed him to use her internet connection.

“Computer forensics detectives were able to immediately provide me with 29 images/videos of interest from the initial preview of the computer, however many more images/videos are expected to be found during their comprehensive scan,” a detective wrote in an arrest report.
Of the images uncovered in the initial search, 23 contained child pornography, the report stated.
Greenzweig, 49, was subsequently charged with 23 counts of possession of materials depicting sexual performance by a child. Additional charges are pending.
Greenzweig’s arrest serves as a cautionary tale for those who use the Internet, deputies say.
“Citizens are reminded to protect the Wi-Fi password to their secure internet routers,” the agency reminded.
Greenzweig was being held in the Sarasota County Jail Thursday without bond.
