Child Porn Charges Filed Against 80-Year-Old Venice Man: Sheriff

VENICE, FL — An 80-year-old Venice man has been charged with 40 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material, according to a Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Detectives began investigating David Lennon in January, after they received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about an image depicting child pornography uploaded to a Microsoft server. They identified him as a suspect through the IP address he used to upload the files.

When searching his computer, more than 160 additional images with victims ranging in age from infant to 15 years old were found, the sheriff’s office said.

During an interview, Lennon admitted to using his computer to search for and view illegal images online.

He posted $40,000 bond and the investigation is ongoing, SCSO said.
