SARASOTA, FL — Deputies responding to a tripped home alarm foiled a Christmas night break-in, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a Facebook post.

The alarm company told deputies, who responded to the Sarasota home in the 5500 block of Wilde Oak Way just before 11 p.m., that there was someone inside who was wearing a hoodie and carrying a flashlight.

When they got to home, they heard noises coming from the back of the home and saw the suspect, later identified as James Keeble, exiting through a broken window, the sheriff’s office said. He tried to run away but was quickly taken into custody.

Investigators confirmed that Keeble tried to steal several items from the home. The victim’s personal belongings were returned to the home and the homeowner was contacted about the break-in, SCSO said.
