Cop 'Shoots Like a Girl,' Wins 1st-Place Honors
The Sarasota Police officer was the overall winner of a recent NRA Service Pistol Match.

Sarasota Police Officer Kim Stroud is pleased with her abilities to “shoot like a girl.”
After all, she was named the 1st-place female shooter and overall winner of an NRA Service Pistol Match recently staged during the 6th annual Instructor Training Seminar in Tallahassee. To earn those honors, Stroud shot 463 out of a possible 480. She bested 35 other participants in the event using her service weapon to hit the mark.
The match was held at the Florida Public Safety Institute during the seminar. The course Stroud excelled on included 48 rounds with each round worth 10 points.

While Stroud won the title, she says there’s still room for improvement.
“You should be equally proficient with both hands when you’re shooting,” Stroud was quoted in a department media release as saying. “This match allowed me to realize I need to work on my off hand more.”

More than 700 law enforcement officers from all over the southeast gathered for the seminar that’s meant to provide instructors a chance to learn new skills and techniques.
For her shooting prowess, Stroud won a trophy and was presented with a T-shirt that reads “Yes I Do ... Shoot Like A Girl!”
